THE IDEA
IT STARTS WITH A PLANT
First, Nebedai picks as the core ingredient of the range the potent plant of hibiscus known for its multiple benefits and properties for the skin. This plant - highly used as a culinary delicacy in West Africa and also for some skincare rituals - has not been utilized yet to its full potential for the skin. We want to push the boundaries and use this plant for ALL its benefits.
WHY HIBISCUS?
Hibiscus is found in various forms - powder, flower, oil, tea - it’s a great emollient to soften the skin and also a natural source of AHAs which slough away dead skin cells and encourage its renewal. Based on those great benefits for the skin, Nebedai chose to develop 4 products.
Formulation
FIRST THE IDEA, THEN THE FORMULATIONS
Nebedai works with a trusted laboratory in Senegal, highly skilled in developing efficient natural skin care products. The first step - after an initial chat around the idea - is we submit a brief highlighting the properties required for each product: core ingredients, efficacy desired, color, scent and texture of the formulations. Based on the brief, the laboratory will create and formulate the first batch of sample for each product.
Packaging
SIMPLE, FUNCTIONAL AND BEAUTIFUL
Once the idea for the new range is born, Nebedai starts developing the packaging with a partner packaging manufacturer. However, we will only start creating the first physical mock-up once the first batch of formulation is ready. This is because the texture and final appearance of the formulations will rule the choice for the right packaging.
Safety Testing
SAFETY FIRST
The last step for the Research & Development process is testing the safety of the formulations. In this stage we ensure that the formulations are stable, compliant with cosmetic regulations and suitable for all. Nebedai works with a laboratory based in the UK to achieve this final stage.
